Desert Heat Wave

Desert Heat Wave, formally the Mesa Komodo Dragons, was formed in 2005 by Ronda Carlson and Jim Rudow to provide a Dragon Boat experience to developmentally disabled adults. Team members participate either individually or with a unified partner.  The team has grown from an exclusively exhibition team to one that competes in recreational races. In 2011, DHW traveled to compete in their first Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival race.  The team has aspirations to additional travel destinations in 2012. We couldn’t have achieved this growth and success without the continued support from, and owe a great deal of thanks to, the AZDBA and its members.
